Sorry for the last minute news but this has only just been announced, Pecha Kucha are holding a fundraising night for Haiti this Saturday. If you haven’t already heard about Pecha Kucha it’s a night devised way back in 2003 in Tokyo as an excuse for designers to meet, network and show off their work, it’s now a world wide event. The format is 20 images in 20 seconds so nice and fast paced for us short-attention spanned designers. Pecha Kucha is Japanese for the sound of ‘chit chat’. See how educated we are here at Desktop!
Here’s what they have to say about Saturday’s event:
“On behalf of Architecture for Humanity, Urban Village Melbourne partnered with Architects for Peace is pleased to present 20×20 PechaKucha Ayiti / Melbourne – the world’s largest 24-hour online streaming event, happening on Saturday the 20th of February 2010 at 1000 Pound Bend, 361 Lt Lonsdale St, Melbourne. This is a true, last minute, we-can-do-it fundraiser, mobilized less than a week ago, spreading today to over 130 cities globally with 100% of proceeds destined for ready-to-go reconstruction projects in earthquake-ravaged Haiti.”
