Live in Victoria? Got an idea for an app that will benefit your state? Check out this competition and you could claim a part of $100,000 in prizes.

John Lenders, the Minister for Information and Communications Technology has announced a new competition which aims to motivate Victoria’s IT innovators to turning their ideas into applications which will benefit the people of Victoria.

“We are taking action to turn new possibilities in technology into practical ways to make living in Victoria even more enjoyable. App My State is a competition to encourage software developers and members of the public to create web or mobile applications using Victorian Government data” Mr Lenders said.

The applications can be developed for websites, social networking sites or smart phones and will be judged based on  their innovation, design and development, usefulness, accessibility and general excellence.

The competition will be launched late February at www.premier.vic.gov.au
