Besides for playing Angry Bird and looking oh-so-cool on the bus, it looks as though the iPad’s true purpose has been discovered – an aid for fat-fingered sumo wrestlers to stay in touch with each other.

According to CNN, the Japan Sumo Association has purchased a whole stack of iPads for those wrestlers who have difficulty using the small keys of a traditional phone.

“We will hand out the newest iPads to all the sumo stables to swiftly communicate what we need to,” says Hiroyoshi Murayama, an official with the sumo association.

The Japan Sumo Association is also hoping this initiative will aid in investigating scandals such as an illegal gambling ring allegation that has recently rocked the ancient sport.
