First Music Videos filmed on iPhone 4

The first music videos filmed entirely on the iPhone 4 began floating around on the interwebs this week – and are looking pretty damn cool.

Anix were the first to upload a clip to youtube with their Enemy Eyes track and was closely followed by flakjakt’s Cascades. Here they are:

Steve Failows says on flakjakt’s youtube site that Cascades was written in two days, filmed in just over one day and in post-prod for two days. Anix started filming their clip “literally minutes after we taking [the phone] out of the box”. Clearly both artists were rushing out their videos in order to be the first on youtube, but what are your thoughts on the clips?

Considering the videos were put together in a short space of time, they look pretty nice (and imagine what could be done with a bit more time). But is this the onset of a genre where music clips just start looking the same, not unlike the recent trend of Hipstamatic photos? Unlike point-and-shoot photography, however, not everyone can be a director or editor…or can they? It will be fascinating to see what else pops up and whether the iPhone will take creativity to another level.

I’m not a fan of the Anix video – it’s pretty ordinary, but the flakjakt one is great (even if it is a little hipstermatic-esque). Film quality looks great!
