Kath Day Knight comes to the West End

AUTHOR:  Brendan McKnight
Kath Day Knight comes to the West End

Hit Australia play Holding the Man adapted by Tommy Murphy from Timothy Conigrave’s (and tear jerking) award-winning, best-selling novel will be hitting London’s West End on April 23 at the Trafalgar Studios.

Starring Jane Turner, who will be making her West End debut, the story revolves around the Conigrave’s own experiences of growing up young and gay in Australia. Funny, tender and moving, the play is a celebration that speaks across generations, sexual preference and culture.

The course of teenage love rarely runs smooth, but it is a white-water adventure if you are a gay boy in an all-male school in 1970s Melbourne with a crush on the captain of the football team. Still, despite the odds, Tim and John become close and for fifteen years their relationship survives everything life throws at it – the separations, the discriminations, the temptations, the jealousies and the losses – until the only problem that love can’t solve turns up to part them.

Directed by David Berthold and designed by Brian Thomson who worked on Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, it is sure to be pretty amazing.
