We are happy (and very proud!) to let y’all know that one of our favourite photographers Lyle Owerko has won a Hasselblad Masters Award.

With submissions from nearly 3,000 photographers, this year’s contest has been one of the most successful since its inception in 2001. “Given the exceptional talents of the 100 finalists, though, it was very difficult for the international Hasselblad panel to select only 10 winners”, says Christian Nørgaard, Hasselblad´s Photographer Relations Manager.

Owerko, whose work was featured on our May 2009 cover, is perhaps best known for his 9/11 series including the photograph that appeared on the cover of Times Magazine’s September 11, 2001 issue.

Now living in New York, Oweko’s current projects including documenting cultural groups for the advancement of the human condition. Check out his work here.
