It’s official – over 250 million people, and possibly some re-offenders, have tuned in to YouTube to catch Justin Bieber’s Baby video.
Set in a bowling alley, there’s so much in the video that’s hard to resist. Firstly, Ludacris and rising Hip-Hop rapper, Drake are in it, endorsing the teenage star with invaluable street cred. Then there’s the battle of the sexes dance off, which, if the myriad of teenage films out there has taught us anything, is a sure-fire way in resolving any issues related to the adolescent genre.
The record-breaking achievement is a bit of a homecoming feat for the 16-year-old Canadian singer, who was first discovered by manager Scooter Braun on YouTube. Writing on his Twitter account, Bieber wrote: “thanks…like I said I started on youtube so…WOW!”
Gaga’s ‘Little Monsters’ fail to beat ‘Beliebers’
Previous holder of the most watched YouTube video ever was Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance, which to date (19th July) has only secured 247, 240, 600 views. In regards to non-music video clips, the ever-popular minute-long clip, “Charlie bit my finger” ranks highest in popularity with 210 million views.
