Heard of Craig Oldman's Hand Written Letter project? We asked five Aus design studios to write to Craig: http://t.co/2i4Q614l
Competition NOW CLOSED. Stay tuned for our 10 finalists!
That’s right ladies and gentlebeans, Semi-Permanent and Desktop would like to invite you to design Desktop’s cover for the June 2010 ‘green/environmentally friendly’ issue!
The top ten designs that we feel best communicate or interpret sustainable design (keeping within the criteria, below) will be displayed on the big screen at the Semi-Permanent Sydney conference (in front of 2,000 people). These ten finalists will then be put to the vote on the Semi-Permanent and Desktop websites, with the top four entries (as voted by you) appearing on the cover of the June 2010 issue of Desktop (that’s right, we’ll have four different covers on sale – yeah!), fully credited of course.
So – what do you have to do to enter? Keeping within the theme of being environmentally friendly/sustainable, whilst using at least 50% green, create an original image specifically for the June 2010 cover of Desktop. Then send a low-res version of this image to our editor, Jo Spurling at jo.spurling@niche.com.au.
Entries close on 8 March 2010. Finalists will be showcased at Semi-Permanent in Sydney on 19-20 March, at which point the voting process will be announced so that the public can vote for their favourite cover. The winning four entries will be announced inside the magazine, and of course will hold the prestigious position of Desktop’s front cover, equally (and randomly) sharing distribution.
Good luck!
Material wise, here’s what you need to know: Hi-res image to be at no less than 300dpi. The cover dimensions are: image area, 210mm x 282mm; trim, 235mm x 297mm; bleed, 245mm x 307mm. Please note: all work must be original and will remain the property of the creative. Permission is given for Desktop to use the image on the cover of the June 2010 issue as well as with corresponding editorial in the magazine itself. Please send the image only – we will affix masthead and cover lines. For more information head to www.semipermanent.com or www.desktopmag.com.au or email the Desktop team at desktop@niche.com.au

As one of the top 50 (not boasting) i would like to wish everyone else who made it to the top 50 the best of luck, and thankyou Desktop Magazine for running the competition and giving this opportunity to young designers (like myself)

There’s lots of differing thoughts on design and style that it is out of the question to please everybody regrettably…
